Kite surfing: St. Annes Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: 15 - 25 knots Surf / Sea State: small waves Air Temperature: 16C Sea Temperature: cooler Weather: Sunshine Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Rang Jo up to see where he was headin and the place to be was St.Annes.
Arrived there pretty late just after high tide had passed feeling hungover
and tired from the night before. The wind looked ideal for my 12m when I
arrived with a nice steady 20 knots. There were about 20 other lads already
out on 11's - 13's.
My first time out here with the cross shore conditions so the wave sailing
part was all new to me. Got going fine and I think my snowboardin skills
from last year came into play.
The waves weren't that large, some were 2 foot faces with some lovely ramps
forming for some big airs.
The tide was rapily going out as well as the wind
dropping off so the majority of the other lads drowbve up to Squires gate.
I kept at it and did a downwinder to Squires Gate and then the wind filled
in nicely again which meant I could keep upwind easliy.
The wind turned real gusty with some 30 knot gusts and on full power, it
was pretty hard to control so I had to depower the kite for quite a bit of
the time.
Some nice ramps were forming here with some lads getting some big airs.
Musta been gettin up to the 25+ ft mark.
Overall a great session with perfect cross shore conditions which meant
quite a bit of jumping was the order of the day and first ever jumps for me
with some good landings; Stoked!
